In 2021, I went through something unexpected that many people around the world also experienced:

I downloaded Tik-Tok.

I wasn’t just a lurker, but an active user. Even though I haven’t danced in any videos [yet], I did participate in the trends and acted out my own skits. I’m not going to lie — it was a lot of fun because no one knew me on Tik-Tok, and I allowed myself to be my natural, goofy self.

This was different than how I showed up on other social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. My public persona was a serious professional. After a few months of creating content on Tik-Tok, I pulled the trigger on repurposing career-related Tik-Tok videos onto my LinkedIn account.

These videos weren’t just your typical career tips. I often called out the inequalities in the workplace, especially for women. Toxicity of hustle culture, manipulative hiring practices, and demand for salary transparency were a few of the topics I covered.
